About Course
REPLAY NOW AVAILABLE
Despite advancements in maternal healthcare, the postpartum period remains one of the most vulnerable and under-resourced phases in women’s lives. In the United States, rates of mistreatment in childbirth-related health care services is high and many mothers report unmet needs related to their physical recovery, mental health, and infant care. There are opportunities to improve postpartum care for patient safety, dignity, and support during inpatient care, the hospital discharge transition, and through the “4th Trimester.” In this webinar, medical anthropologist Dr. Kristin Tully will describe research findings on postpartum care and list multi-level interventions. Dr. Tully will discuss how strategic enhancements in clinical workflow, the built environment, and postpartum support can create positive experiences and outcomes.
