📚 One (1) contact hour (available until November 18, 2026)

In this webinar, we will explore how to differentiate myocardial infarction (MI) from other causes of chest pain by identifying key symptoms. We will cover essential questions for patient assessment and critical signs to observe, enabling a systematic evaluation of chest pain. The session will also examine potential non-cardiac conditions causing chest pain and effective interventions to ensure patient safety and optimal care.

What Will You Learn?

  • How to differentiate myocardial infarction from other causes of chest pain by identifying key symptoms that indicate MI versus non-cardiac conditions.
  • How to confidently determine when it is not an MI, by understanding the distinguishing features and symptoms that can help rule out myocardial infarction.
  • Key questions to ask during patient assessment and the most critical signs to look for, allowing you to develop a systematic approach to assess patients with chest pain, including relevant questions and physical findings.
  • Potential conditions responsible for your patient’s chest pain, including musculoskeletal, gastrointestinal, pulmonary, and psychological causes, and how to implement effective interventions to ensure patient safety and optimal care.
  • Diagnostic tests to guide accurate differentiation and appropriate interventions, discussing the appropriate tests to order and when to consider cardiac versus non-cardiac origins.

Very knowledgeable and experienced RN. I will not hesitate to take more courses offered. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with someone who always wanted to work in Cardiac Care but was intimidated. Now I am retired and enjoy CEUs to maintain my license.

Excellent course. I did have some annoyance with the technical aspect in that I didn't see how to move past the downloaded notes. I thoroughly studied the notes which were EXCELLENT. THen got 10/10 on the quiz. THen still had to watch the video to complete. I'd be happy to watch the video or study the transcript. Wasn't so happy to do both. I do learn better by reading than watching videos, so was appreciative of the handout. It would be nice to have a choice of which way to complete the course, rather than the video completion being a requirement. I would have watched and read along with the video if I'd realized. Still Nurse Alice is a GREAT teacher and nurse, clearly with advanced knowledge and skills as an ARNP, but she hasn't lost touch with being a "real nurse." (Ask for an RN, a real nurse, was a slogan years ago when they were trying to cut too many RNs from a local hospital staff. I say it with total respect - so know it is meant that way! Would love to have worked with more nurses like you! Am retired but still volunteer weekly in a free clinic. Love your classes and will look for your podcast!

This was a great one-hour course that provided a well-rounded overview of common causes of chest pain and ways to diagnose or rule out patient conditions related to this.
