Early recognition of mental status changes is crucial in preventing serious neurological deterioration and improving patient outcomes. This 1.5-hour course equips nurses and nursing students with the skills to detect subtle and significant changes in a patient’s neurological status using validated assessment tools such as AVPU, the Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS), and pupillary response evaluation. Participants will learn to identify common causes of altered mental status, initiate timely interventions, and escalate care when necessary. Additionally, the course covers effective communication techniques to ensure accurate and prompt reporting to healthcare providers.
Upon completion one (1) CE will be provided by Nurse Approved, LLC, a California BRN approved CEP #17734
